Originally developed by Stanley Tools, Lockt QuickShim is a product that was purchased, rebranded, and redistributed by RAE Security. QuickShim is a small attachment added to a traditional hinge that allows a door to hang and swing freely in any given doorway, without having to detach the door for incremental adjustments to fit the given space.
I was the lead designer tasked with creating a LOCKT wordmark that was simple in style, as to allow it to be stamped onto the product. We then took that wordmark, as well as renderings and product line art purchased from Stanley, to create a suite of advertising materials to showcase the premise of the technology, provide product specifications to buyers, and bridge the gap between RAE Security and potential customers.
Not only did the logo for Lockt Quick Shim have to function as a standalone mark, it also had to utilize a thick typeface and simple line art, as to assure it could be properly stamped onto the metal of each QuickShim hinge. As to reflect the nature of blue collar construction work, the typeface and color palette are bold, tough, and engineered.
Repurposing the client’s assets previously produced in-house by Stanley Tools, the QuickShim website is geared towards potential hardware vendors and explains the novelty of the product from start to finish and allows interested buyers to contact RAE Security.
We were also tasked with creating a number of sales materials that RAE Security employees could use to pitch the product. This collateral explains the necessity for the product, includes all product specifications, and provides contact information for ordering.
These inner box and outer box packaging labels are a familiar extension of the QuickShim website’s look and feel and are placed on each product.
